There are 2 types of timeline theories. Those that involve only one timeline and those that involve infinite timelines all based off of the decisions nature has to make. For instance, you could be faced with a decision of wether to eat a cookie or not. Let's say you eat the cookie. You could have had an unknown allergy to peanuts and now you are severely sick. On the other hand, you could not be allergic to peanuts and you would have been fine. Now, is there a timeline out there when you did get sick? Or is there not one? We might never know the answer to this question. If the timeline about there being multiple timelines is correct, traveling to the future would be very hard to know exactly which timeline you were shooting for. Traveling to the past however would all eventually lead to the same point in time. The multi timeline theory can also be thought of like a tree on earth. All the leaves are all connected to the same stump. While there are different trees, all the trees are on the earth in some spot or another.
